[20p-S011-11] Epitaxial growth and electrochemical transfer of graphene on Ir(111)/α-Al₂O₃(0001)

We have previously succeeded in the growth of mono-layer graphene on Ir(111)/α-Al₂O₃(0001) substrates by CVD. In this study, the in-plane crystal orientation relationship between graphene and Ir(111) was investigated by RHEED. We found that the graphene layer was grown as graphene<11-20>/Ir<11-2>/α-Al₂O₃<11-20> and was single-crystal. Furthermore, an electrochemical transfer technique in NaOH aqueous solution was applied for the graphene transfer and we succeeded in transferring the graphene layer grown on Ir(111) layers onto SiO₂/Si substrates. We also demonstrated the reuse of the substrates in multiple growth and transfer cycles.
