Mössbauer spectroscopy, an experimental method where local electronic states in solids can be examined through absorption spectra of gamma-rays by the constituent nuclei, including recent development in synchrotron-based Mössbauer spectroscopy, is introduced briefly. Advantages of this experimental method for the studies on spintronics-related materials are demonstrated by showing some examples.
