[20p-W321-12] Effect of Irradiaiton Time on Inner Structure of Silver Sub-micron Spherical Particles Fabricated by Pulsed Laser Melting in Liquid
Keywords:submicron spherical particles, pulsed laser melting, electron backscattering diffraction, EBSD
Inner crystalline structure of silver sub-micron spherical particles (SSP) by pulsed laser melting in liquid have been evaluated by mean of electron backscattering diffraction (EBSD) from the cross-section of the particles. In the present study, inner structure of silver SSPs prepared by pulsed laser melting with different irradiation times was evaluated by cross-sectional EBSD, and growth mechanism of the particles was discussed. Irregular shaped particles with wide size distributions were observed in the SEM micrograph of the sample prepared by shorter laser irradiation time of 100 sec, whereas many spherical particles with relatively narrow size distribution were obtained through longer irradiation time of 1,800 sec. According to the corresponding EBSD result, submicron spherical particles were formed through melting, fusion and crystal growth during laser irradiation.
