The use of plasmonic structures have been a great deal of interest in fabricating electric-field enhanced organic device applications such as biosensors and photovoltaic devices. Especially, the plasmonic solar cell is a promissing approach to create additional light traping layer facilitating the improvement light absorption capability and efficiency of the solar cells without increase of the active layer thickness. In this work, we studied the effect of grating-coupling surface plasmon excitation on organic thin film solar cells.
