In this study, we introduce a new “cast-capping” method to fabricate large size single-crystal perovskites of CH3NH3PbBr3 for application to optically pumped lasing. This method consists of two steps: casting a perovskite solution on a substrate such as glass, mica and distributed Bragg reflector (DBR), then capping with another substrate at ambient condition. Due to slow crystal growth, large size, high quality single crystals are successfully obtained between these substrates. Their lasing properties are measured at room temperature under excitation with a fs-pulsed laser. Both edge-emitting multimode lasing due to Fabry-Pérot resonation at the side facets and surface-emitting lasing due to the DBR resonator are obtained from the DBR/CH3NH3PbBr3/DBR sample.
