Molecular orientation of liquid crystal can be controlled by light as well as electric field. The molecular reorientation caused by interaction of liquid crystal molecules and dye molecule excited by photoirradiation above a light-intensity threshold shows optical nonlinearity. Recently, we have found that the light intensity required for molecular reorientation is significantly reduced by polymer stabilization. In this study, we prepared polymer-crosslinked dye-doped liquid crystals and investigated its optical behavior.
