In this work, we present the latest results from Kaneka on high efficiency copper (Cu) metallized heterojunction (HJ) crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar cells. We have achieved a certified efficiency of 25.1% by an aperture area measurement (area: 151.8 cm2) and an efficiency of 24.5% by a total area measurement (area: 239.0 cm2) using Cu metallized HJ c-Si solar cells. These efficiencies are a record efficiency for both-side-contacted c-Si solar cell and a record power/wafer for c-Si solar cell with 6-inch semi-square wafer, respectively.
Results on the improvement of cell efficiency by development of a high quality passivation layer deposition technology and an advanced metallization technology show the potential of these technologies.
