CIGS-based solar cells have emerged as one of the most promising candidates for high-efficiency and low-cost solar cells. However, there are few publications on the degradation mechanism of CIGS devices with exposure to an atmosphere, and this issue is very important for practical application. High-efficiency CIGS solar cells tend to show the gradually degradation of open-circuit voltage (Voc) and fill factor (FF) after exposure to an atmosphere. In this study, we investigate the degradation mechanism of CIGS solar cells with mechanical patterning, and discuss the origins of the degradation of cell performance.
