Single-crystalline thin films of heavily-manganese-doped lithium niobate were prepared by a pulsed laser deposition method and the photovoltaic properties have been investigated under visible light illumination. We demonstrate that the remarkable photovoltaic voltage beyond 90 V arises from visible light absorption and subsequent charge separation through occupied gap states originating from MnLi and MnNb. In addition, we will report the photovoltaic properties of the thin films prepared under different heat-treatment conditions.
