Active body scanners, such as backscatter X-ray and active millimeter wave, have been used to detect concealed weapons and contrabands such as explosives, guns, knives, narcotics, drugs etc. carried by suspicious persons in airport and other important facilities. A terahertz passive body scanner has a superiority to them against the problems of health security and privacy invasion and can be widely utilized in various scenes. We are developing a new system which uses a terahertz passive body scanner and a terahertz radiator to measure emission and reflection from an object. It gives the information on emission- and reflection- properties of material of the object, by which the materials of concealed objects can be classified. Our study will largely improve the performance of the body scanner for the detection of illicit objects.
