Increase of light diffusion effect in a liquid crystal microlens array (LC-MLA) has been investigated. The LC-MLA was fabricated using ITO substrate which ITO layer was coated on both sides. On the one side of ITO film, micro-size circular patterns were formed. We demonstrated that increase of optical retardation for the LC-MLA driven by reversal phase voltages. The light diffusion effect was evaluated by half value angle (HVA) of the light distribution pattern using a light source of LED lamp. HVA of 6 degree spread on 11 degree though the LC-MLA. In the case of a stacked LC-MLA that used four cells, HVA was reached on 20 degree.
