Mode division multiplexing (MDM) has been actively studied as one of optical communication technologies for the next-generation ultra-high-capacity communication. As one approach to realize MDM, we have proposed mode-multiplexing using a progressive phase conjugation technique (PPC). PPC is a unique approach that combines the phase detection technique and the digital phase conjugation technique, enabling an adaptive and selective extraction, compensation, and conversion of spatial modes that propagate through multi-mode fibers. In this paper, we performed an experiment on the selective spatial mode extraction with a near infrared laser at a wavelength of 850 nm.
