It has been reported by atomic force microscopy that epitaxial graphene grown on SiC is covered with water in air and nitrogen molecules form periodic structures at the interface between the graphene and adsorbed water. We investigated whether the periodic structures are kept in vacuum using low-energy electron microscopy and low-energy electron diffraction.
