[5p-A203-7] Construction of Whole Organ Engineering, and Regenerative Medicine - Liver -

Hiroyuki Ijima1 (1.Kyushu Univ.)

Keywords:whole organ engineering, regenerative medicine, liver

A bioartificial liver consisting of hepatocytes spheroid culture system was developed and its effectiveness was demonstrated by preclinical animal experiments using severe liver failure pigs. On the other hand, liver-specific ECM substratum was developed, which promoted liver tissue construction with angiogenesis. Furthermore, an organ template with a precise vascular network was produced by decellularization of organs, and a prototype of organ engineered liver graft was developed. The effectiveness of this graft could be demonstrated by cultivation and application to hepatic failure rats.
