Escherichia coli (E. coli) is used for evaluating water quality. In our previous studies, we successfully detected E. coli, by comparing images constructed by the transmitted light before and after the staining. However, the method needs to measure the optical disk twice for the identification of E. coli, which is not convenient. We therefore have constructed another imaging system that can visualize the fluorescence of E. coli and have succeeded to identify E. coli in a short time.
