We found that plasmonic nanostructures can assist the phase transition of VO2, resulting in a decrease of its phase transition temperature apparently, since the plasmonic nanostructures can work as nano heaters. This plasmon-assisted phase transition will realize the low power switching of VO2, leading to the energy-saving functional devices. In this talk, we investigated the possibility for the low-power switching of VO2 assisted by plasmon resonance of metal nanostructure.
