In order further enhance the photoconversion efficiency (PCE) there is urgent need for not only efficient NIR dyes for enhancing Jsc by panchromatic photon harvesting but also search for alternate redox electrolyte having relatively deeper redox potential for enhancing the Voc. In fact cobalt based redox electrolytes have attracted a great deal of attentions in the recent past but its bulky nature results in to slow diffusion, posing enhanced recombination leading the overall hampered PCE. Thus an efficient approach to passivate the route to recombination calls for the urgent need. Thus this work deals with the surface passivation utilizing compact metal oxide for FTO as well as mesoporous TiO2. Apart from this we have employed a dye cocktail of a far-red sensitive squaraine dye (SQ-110) and visible dye (D-35) in combination with cobalt electrolyte to enhance the observed PCE of the DSSC thus fabricated.
