Keywords:silicon solar cell, iron impurities, Mossbauer effect

We have developed a “Mössbauer Spectroscopic Microscope (MSM)” in order to investigate the Fe impurities in Si solar cells. This MSM can provide information on the charge states and the lattice positions of 57Fe impurities in Si solar cells, and show the distribution for each state of 57Fe using the Mössbauer effect by focused gamma-rays. In this presentation, we show the results of MSM by the improved microchannel plate for the multi-crystalline (mc) Si solar cell which is not intentionally iron contaminated.
