A method to visualize acetic acid distribution during damp heat (DH) test of photovoltaic cell is established and validated through reaction-diffusion analysis. Generation of acetic acid from ethlene-vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer through hydrolysis in PV module is considered to be one mechanism of degradation. Therefore, priecise measurement of acetic acid concentration and distribution during DH test is essential for precise life-time prediction for PV module. We have developed a real-time, non-destructive optical pH measurement method based on a pH-sensitive fluorescent dye. A measurement result during DH test up to 4000 h is reported.
