▲ [5p-PB5-4] Proposal of highly sensitive and highly birefringent microstructure-cored photonic crystal fiber based gas sensor
Keywords:PCF sensor, Confinement loss, Birefringence
Photonic crystal fiber based gas sensors in two dfferent shapes is presented in this paper to detect toxic and colorless gases in which both core and cladding are microstructured. Between the two PCF strucutres vertically arranged elliptical air hole PCF shows better guiding properties than the horizontally arranged PCF. The guiding properties of proposed structure have been numerically investigated using the full vectorial finite element method with perfectly matched layers absorbing boundary condition. From the numerical result it is obtained that the sensitivity of the proposed vertically arranged PCF is enhanced to 47.99% with high birefringence of 1.21×10-2 can be achieved and confinement losses lower than 10-6 dB/m at 1330 nm wavelength by introducing hexagonal outer cladding and square shape cored. Other Optical Properties like Splice loss, Numerical Aparatureare also shown in this research.
