Keywords:molecular orientation, high-intensity laser field, polarizability and hyperpolarizability

Asymmetric molecules interact through their polarizability and hyper polarizability in a high-intensity nonresonant two color laser field. By controlling the laser polarization angle and the relative phase difference of the 2 color laser pulses, it is possible to realize molecular orientation to an arbitrary direction. In our experiment, we aim to further increase the degrees of orientation by (1) selecting the lower lying rotational states with a molecular deflector and (2) adjusting the rising parts of the two wavelengths by introducing a Michelson-type delay line in the optical path of the pump pulse.
