▼ [6a-C18-1] Observation of the spin transport at a LaAlO3/SrTiO3 interface at room temperature
Keywords:Spintronics, Spin transport, Oxide heterostructure
A two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) at LaAlO3/SrTiO3 (LAO/STO) interfaces consists of d-orbital electrons. A d-electron is localized and a source of magnetism in 3d transition ferromagnets, however, this d-electron 2DEG enables us to investigate a d-electrons as carriers of charge and spin. A wide variety of physical phenomena, such as ferromagnetism, superconductivity and even their coexistence have been observed in this 2DEG, demonstrating the ability of d-electron 2DEGs to enable a material platform for the study of a lot of ordering phenomena in solid-state physics. An experimental demonstration of spin transport via d-electrons is challenging as the conventional understanding of the d-electrons character suggests only a short-range spin coherence. In contrast, we demonstrate the spin transport in d-electron 2DEG at LAO/STO interfaces at room temperature on the micron scale.
