[6a-PA3-7] Sensitive terahertz-wave detection by non-linear interaction with optical phase modulation

In terahertz-wave generation by difference frequency generation, non-linear polarization corresponding to terahertz frequency is excited with decreasing pump wave and increasing signal wave in non-linear optical crystal. Behaviors of pump, signal and terahertz waves was numerically analyzed under existing of initial terahertz-wave. Intensity balance of pump and signal waves, normally decreasing pump wave and increasing signal wave with propagation in the crystal, inversed by shifting pi radian of initial pump wave phase. The intensity balance inversion was occurred only when the initial terahertz-wave was existence. Hence, the phenomena can be used for terahertz-wave detection.
