As a method for suppressing the cost of the REBa2Cu3Oy (REBCO, RE = Rare Earth) coated conductors by PLD method, higher rate of film deposition can be mentioned. In order to increase the deposition rate, there are methods of increasing the energy density and the repetition rate of the laser. However, when these parameters are increased, the a-axis oriented grains of REBCO increase within the thin film, and the superconducting properties of the coated conductors are deteriorated. Therefore, in this study, by using the REBCO growth on REBCO buffer (REGREB) technique for fabricating the REBCO upper layer on the high-quality REBCO seed layer, it was possible to fabricate SmBCO coated conductors with high superconducting properties at high deposition rate.
