In this study, we have focused on the development of biomimetic optical sensing devices using bacteriorhodopsin. In the previous study, we have reported inkjet patterning of the optical device via ink-jet patterning of bacteriorhodopsin using a material printer. Here we repot the fabrication of visual sensor devices by using the inkjet technique. Two kinds of visual sensor patterns, Difference of Gaussian (DOG) and Gabor filters, were printed on substrates. In the case of the DOG filter, we found that the device exhibited the similar current response to that of the X-type receptive fields of ganglion cells in the primate retina.
