Keywords:colloidal particles, sensor chip, barnacle

In our previous study, we found that one barnacle-like porous structure in a scale of submicrometer can be applied for sensor chips to detect some substances adsorbed on the surface. In this study, we developed a fabrication process to obtain a high-density array of the barnacle-like porous structures. As a result, the high-density array could be formed homogeneously based on a monolayer of colloidal particles. In addition, Au-coated high-density array of barnacle-like porous structures exhibited spectral shift that is dependent on the ambient refractive index changes. This means that the porous structure can be used as sensor chips.
