Rod-shaped gold nanoparticles (GNRs) have attracted much attention as they exhibit anistropic optical properties derived from their shape. To harness these properties, thier self-assembly into ordered structures is of strategic importance. However, the self assembly of GNRs over a large area remains challenging. Therefore, we developed a method to align GNRs perpendicular to a substrate by electrostatic interactions using a DNA brush as a scaffold.
