Device characteristics such as organic transistors and organic solar cells depend on the crystallinity of the thin film used for the device, and if single-crystalline formation is possible, high device performance can be expected because of few grain boundaries and defects. From such a viewpoint, we have reported the formation of a double heterostructure using a crystalline grade film of (thiophene / phenylene) co-oligomers (TPCOs). Although laminated films which were optically-pumped amplification was obtained, EL characteristics could not be measured due to the influence of cracks, pinholes, or other similar leak paths. We found that these leak paths can be improved by a photolithographic process using a leakage prevention film.
