[7a-C14-1] Lifetime Measurements of Erbium Ions by Using an Absorption Pump-probe MethodⅡ

Metastable-state lifetime of erbium ions is one of important parameters to determine gain of erbium-doped fiber amplifiers. We have proposed a pump-probe method that enables us to measure the lifetime in the fiber propagation direction at the last autumn meeting. In this presentation, we show that measureable length can be expanded to 5 m by selecting a wavelength.
