[7a-C14-2] Pressure dependence of FBG inscribed in perfluorinated plastic optical fiber
Keywords:pressure sensing, plastic optical fiber, fiber Bragg gratings
We investigate the hydrostatic pressure dependence of the Bragg wavelength of a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) inscribed in a perfluorinated POF at 1550 nm. At 0.5 MPa, the Bragg wavelength increased with time and became almost constant approximately 150 min later. The pressure-dependence coefficient was then measured to be -0.13 nm/MPa; the absolute value was >30 times larger than that of a silica fiber and not largely different from those of other types of POFs. However, unlike the other types of POFs, the sign of the coefficient was negative, which could be caused by the three-layered structure of the POF.
