[7a-PA1-3] Image-based 3D Mapping of degradation data in tunnels using image matching

There exist many old tunnels, and their efficient inspection sytem is required for prolonging their service lives. Our research group is developing a remote and high-precision scanning system based on a new laser technology. However, the scanned data do not have 3D position in the entire tunnels.This means that it is difficult to reuse the scanned data for future reference. We introduce an image-based mapping system of degradation data. The proposed method create 3D models from a set of images by structure-from-motion(SfM). Since mapping between the input image and 3D models is established by SfM, 3D mapping of the query images is computed by image matching of the input images, and the scanned data is also mapped on to 3D models when the scanned data is mapped onto the query images.
