Keywords:SIS junctions, frequency up-conversion, gain

We newly propose the use of SIS junctions as a frequency up-converter based on quasi-particle mixing for applications in frequency division multiplexing circuits and amplifiers. For these purposes, a positive gain and a low noise characteristics are required at the frequency up-conversion. In this paper, we report the possible positive gain by applying Tucker 's SIS mixer theory to the calculation of frequency up-conversion and also show the gain experimentally.
