Titanium nitride is a highly conductive ceramic where hot carriers can be excited optically. In the present talk, we will show our recent works on photoelectric and photothermal conversions using titanium nitride nanostructures. While gold has been dominantly used for these hot carrier engineering applications, we believe that titanium nitride is much suitable than gold because of its cheaper price and larger light absorption.
