We have proposed a new simple water-assisted solid state reaction (WASSR) method for the synthesis of phosphor materials. Various vanadates ((Cs,Rb)VO3, Rb3V5O14, YVO4), silicate (Ba2SiO4:Eu) and phosphate (LaPO4:Ce,Tb) phosphors were successfully synthesized by the WASSR method. We demonstrated that this reaction mechanism is different from a solution or mechanochemical reaction.
