We developed a method to fabricate piezoelectric collagen micro-wires and micro-sheets.
Electrochemically alignment methods were employed for fabrication of micro-wires, and lyotropic crystal cell was applied for preparation of micro-sheet of collagen. Piezoelasticity was also detected in both materials by Piezoelectric Force Microscopy (PFM).
The molecular orientation measured by SHG (Second harmonic generation) microscope is also provide useful information related to the properties of piezoelasticity and mechanical strength.
This fabrication method is also applicable for another material, such as protein and the other water soluble materials.
