[7p-C24-11] Cosolvent-free synthesis and optical properties of polysilsesquioxane-based organic-inorganic hybrid glasses
Keywords:polysilsesquioxane, organic-inorganic hybrid glass
Cosolvent-free method to synthesize polysilsesquioxiane (PSQ) liquids and solids from organotrialkoxysilanes without using organic solvents has been eveloped. The resultant ethyl-, phenyl-, and 3-sulfanylpropyl-modified PSQ were highly-viscous liquid, solid, and viscous liquids, respectively. Ethyl-modified PSQ does not contain functional groups that absorb UV light and became UV-transparent glasses with a UV absorption edge of ~210nm by thermal curing. Phyenyl-modified PSQ exhibited thermoplasticy and transformed to glasses by melting and subsequent solidification by cooling. The mixture of 3-sulfanylpropyl-modified PSQ and polyallyl compounds underwent UV-induced thiol-ene reactions and resulted in transparent bulk glasses. These methods are useful in obtaining transparent silicate-based organic-inorganic hybrids.
