[7p-S42-16] Monolithic polarization control of THz radiation using Bi-2212 mesa geometrical structures.

The generation of efficient, tunable, coherent, and circularly polarized continuous wave terahertz radiation would have far reaching implications in wireless communications, imaging, and spectroscopy. In this study, we experimentally demonstrate a method to generate a polarized terahertz emission directly from a mesa-shaped superconducting Bi-2212, monolithically without using any external optical devices.These findings pave the way for further Bi-2212 based THz polarization control sources, antennas, and arrays.
