Although the CaI2 crystal has excellent scintillator characteristics such as light yield of 107000 pho ton/MeV and an energy resolution of 3.2% @ 662keV, it has a strong cleavage property on the C face and processing is extremely difficult.
In order to investigate the crystal composition containing Ca and excellent workability, crystal preparation, crystal structure analysis and scintillator characteristic evaluation were carried out in a Ca (BrxI1-x) 2 type solid solution. Ca (Br x I 1-x) 2 solid solutions (x = 0.25, 0.5, 0.75) were prepared and the light yield of 71300 photon / MeV and the energy resolution of 7.9% ~ 662 keV were confirmed in the 2% Eu-doped CaBrI crystal.
