[8a-A202-7] Surface band bending of photocatalytic TiO2

Keywords:Surface band bending, Photocatalyst, Titania

The binding energy of a surface electron differs from that of an inner (bulk) electron, therefore the energy band gradually bends toward the surface. The energy-band bending is one important factor for the photocatalytic activity of TiO2. As far as we know, the experimental evaluation of the magnitude of the bending has never been reported. We report the first experimental study of the surface band bending of TiO2 investigated by hard X-ray photoemission spectroscopy.
