[8a-A503-4] Quantitative measurements of cell adhesion strengths between a macrophage and cancer cells based on single cell manipulation using cup-attached AFM chip
Keywords:AFM, Cell adhesion, Micro- and Nano-particles
Intercellular adhesion between a macrophage and cancer cells was quantitatively measured using atomic force microscopy (AFM). A cup-shaped metal hemisphere was attached to the apex of the AFM cantilever. The AFM chip approached a macrophage cell, picked up, and intercellular adhesion between the macrophage and cancer cells was quantitatively measured. In results, adhesion strength between a macrophage and highly malignant cancer cell was almost 2-fold larger than other cell pairs. These results are consistent with clinical investigations in tumor microenvironment.
