[8a-S21-10] Modulating thermal radiation beyond the blackbody limit
Keywords:Thermal radiation, Phase-change material, Near-field
Radiative heat transfer is generally limited by the blackbody limit. On the contrary, radiative heat transfer between two fused quartz substrate positioned closer than 1000 nm exceeds the blackbody limit owing to the near-field electromagnetic coupling. Here, we show that the metal-insulator transition of vanadium dioxide modulates the near-field radiative heat transfer with amplitude larger than the blackbody limit.
