By using metamaterials that can control the electric permittivity and magnetic permeability, it is possible to realize optical devices with new functionalities. Our group have proposed an optical buffer utilizing steep wavelength dispersion of metamaterials. We report the theoretical analysis of optical buffer combining Si waveguide and planar metamaterial and the evaluation of metamaterial for that.
