[8a-S21-7] Hyperbolic metamaterial based optical waveguide for mid-infrared region

We propose Hyperbolic Metamaterial (HMM) based optical waveguide for mid-infrared region which has been mainly studied in visible region. HMM has an advantage to easily realize the intended index, because it is possible to adjust HMM's permittivity only by changing the thickness ratio of metal and dielectric films. In this talk, we show a strong field confinement into sub-wavelength space as well as superiority to near-infrared region in terms of propagation properties.
