[8p-A405-2] High sensitive detection of contaminants in organic crystal by high accuracy terahertz absorption spectroscopy

Defects in organic crystals can be detected as absorption frequency shifts in THz spectra.High accuracy continuous wave GaP terahertz spectrometer (frequency range 0.6 - 6.0 THz, best resolution 8 MHz) was applied to the sample including a small amount of contaminants at low temperature. The detection limit of contaminants in asparagine crystal was estimated to be 100 ppm. Different sensitivities of absorption line frequency shifts by a contaminant molecule suggest identifiability of molecules by the measurement.
