[14a-512-11] Detection of Trace Substance Adhered on Surfaces of Fe by LIBS
Keywords:Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy, Inspection of trace surface substances, Steel
With increasing usage of light-weight multiple materials to the bodies of airplanes and automobiles, adhesion bonding of different materials has been more important. We are studying the possibility of applying LIBS to the inspection of trace substances on surfaces before bonding in production line. In the previous meeting, we presented that we detected silicone oil adhered on Al alloy with the surface concentration of about 1 ug cm-2. This time, we selected Fe, a very important constructional material, as a substrate and adhered a small amount of silicone oil. Though Fe has many emission lines, we successfully detected silicone oil with the surface concentration of about 4 ug cm-2. We also present surface concentration dependence of LIBS signal intensity.
