Solution processable organic field effect transistors (OFET) have attracted a lot of attentions owing to their facile, low cost and their application in realizing flexible electronic circuits. Remaining challenges like simple fabrication, high mobility and ease of multilayer thin film fabrication are needed to be solved for their commercial realization. Most important and decisive step to achieve high performance lies in the fabrication procedure of thin films, since film morphology of conjugated polymer (CPs) strongly affects the device performance. It was demonstrated that high mobility in thiophene-based CPs could be achieved by casting them with high boiling point (BP) solvents for slow evaporation leading to thermodynamically favorable molecular arrangement in the films. Subsequently, casting CP solution with high BP liquid on liquid substrate (static-FTM) to enhance the device performance along with multilayer thin film was also demonstrated. Against this, we have shown that casting of thin films with low BP solvents such as chloroform leads to rapid solvent evaporation as the dynamic casting of floating-film (dynamic-FTM). In this study, we have investigated the effect of casting the floating-films statically or dynamically on the optical and the electronic characteristics.
