[15a-512-6] Simulations of Metal Non-Thermal Ablation Induced by Electronic Entropy

Recently, some groups have reported non-thermal ablation of metals, which cannot be explained assuming thermal equilibrium, but previous theories haven’t succeed in explaining experimental results of this phenomenon yet. Based on our first-principles calculations assuming a two-temperature model, we propose new electronic entropy-induced non-thermal ablation model. We are going to show that by using this model our simulation reproduces experimental results of a laser fluence dependence of ablation depth without fitting parameters.
