We succeeded in synthesizing high-performance and low-cost thermoelectric material in the n-type Mg3Sb2 (ZT = 1.51 at T = 716K for the composition of Mg3.2Sb1.5Bi0.49Te0.01) by computational screening and chemical optimization. In this talk, we reveal desigining principle of the n-type Mg3Sb2 with high thermoelectric performance by focusing on defect formation mechanism and isotropic conduction character in spite of the layered crystal structure.
