Keywords:vapor deposition polymerization, metal/polymer interface, adhesion strength

Adhesion strength between PTFE and metal was improved by forming a polymer layer of 4-hydroxybutyl acrylate glycidylether(4HBAGE)on the PTFE surface using ion-assisted deposition polymerization. 180°peel-off strength of vapor-deposited Cu layer was 1.23 N/cm on a bare PTFE surface, which was improved to 3.73 N/cm by modifying the surface with the polymer layer.
