Novel passivation films for rear sides of n-type solar cells were developed. Typical PERT (passivated emitter, rear totally diffused) cells have the trade-off between rear side passivation quality and rear contact resistance. However, with novel passivation films, both good passivation quality and low contact resistance for fire-through electrodes were obtained. Using these films, Voc and FF were improved and a gain of conversion efficiency was 0.4pt compared with the conventional PERT cell.
